“Love doesn’t make the world go ’round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.” ~ Franklin P. Jones
Being a hopeless romantic, it should come at no surprise that I love marriage proposals. The marriage proposal is one of the most special moments in a couple’s relationship and the first step forward to vowing to spend the rest of your lives together.
I remember back to when my husband asked me to marry him and the overwhelming feeling of happiness and excitement, and I could not stop smiling.
Pure joy is the emotion that I see the couple have each time I capture a proposal. Over the last year and a half I have had the pleasure of shooting over 20 marriage proposals, and even with all the experience I still shake when the moment happens, because it is such an emotional moment for everyone. I am overjoyed when I first get to talk to the couple afterward and congratulate them. After the congratulations, we get to jump into an impromptu engagement session, and it is an absolute blast. Everyone is on such a high from the proposal that it makes the session so full of love, laughter, and joy which is precisely why surprise proposals are my favorite to photograph!
So when Connor’s mother contacted me in January to ask me to photograph her son proposing to Katie I was so excited. Connor and I planned the perfect proposal to take place on February 2, ria2019 at Boone Hall Plantation. I seriously do not think that I have ever laughed more during a session than I did with Katie and Connor. I surprised the two with a second shooter to help capture the proposal from multiple angles, and then we explored Boone Hall for the next hour and a half until Katie’s friends and family surprised her at the end to help the happy couple celebrate their engagement.
Thank you, Connor, for trusting me with capturing your proposal to Katie!
Xoxo,
Emma
