On September 19th, my husband, Luke, and I celebrated ten years of marriage! We believe it is important to continue celebrating your love, no matter how many years you’ve been together! Ten years is such an amazing milestone, so why not go big and celebrate? Together we planned the most romantic vow renewal at Dana Villas in Santorini, Greece!!
We first met in 2009 at a bar in Denver, Colorado. I was out enjoying dinner with my friend, as he was doing the same. My friend noticed when I walked by his table, he checked me out. Eventually, I introduced myself to Luke and his friend, and ever since that day, we have hardly spent a day without seeing each other. We said our “I do’s” in Cabo San Lucas three years later. Just six years later, on the same day we met, we welcomed our wonderful son, Noah.
We spent time relaxing by the pool on the morning of our vow renewal. It was so nice to soak in the morning before everything started. We decided to help each other get ready; it was sweet and felt like us.
As we were planning the small details, we wanted to incorporate Greek culture as much as possible. From the beginning of our relationship, we have always said to each other, “Mi Amor, You’re my World.” This saying was incorporated throughout our vow renewal. I made the backdrop for our champagne tower, and I loved how it turned out! I included the Greek expression on it. We both wore Louboutins, a special greek edition, and they were incredible!
While it was just us two on our trip, we still wanted our families included. We have a family bible that we had custom-made with our family crest painted on the front. We brought the bible along and put photos of our parents, siblings, and grandparents on each of their wedding days. They make up the foundation of our marriage and what we want to set as an example for our son. We also recited bible passages to one another.
I purchased my dress at Nordstrom and then customized it to include the bow on the back. Luke wore a classic black suit from Indochino, and he even had “Mi Amor” put into the inside of his suit. We both wore accessories from Brackish, a favorite store of ours in Charleston. It was important to us to include things from home as well.
As the sun began to set over the water, Luke and I enjoyed the live piano while we soaked up the sunset and each other’s company. Our dance to “Conversations in the Dark” was so special. The views from Dana Villas are incredible, and I loved how we had such sweet moments. This was the most beautiful day we could have asked for! I had the best day of my life, spending time with my husband.
We are so thankful that we made a trip to Santorini and made even more incredible memories. This trip and vow renewal allowed us to reflect on everything we have overcome over the last ten years as a couple. Our amazing vendors truly made our vow renewal even more special!
