There’s a timeless charm to a Cannon Green Charleston wedding. Between its lush courtyard, elegant interiors, and the lively energy of downtown Charleston just beyond its doors, it’s the perfect place to celebrate a wedding. With just their nearest loved ones gathered, Julia and Christian’s December wedding at Cannon Green carried a warm, close-knit charm that made the day feel especially personal.
Getting Ready Moments
The day began separately, with Julia getting ready at a nearby Airbnb, surrounded by her closest loved ones, while Christian spent time at a nearby hotel with his friends as he dressed for the day. It was a leisurely morning for both of them, which was the perfect way to start the wedding day. Julia slipped into her wedding dress with the help of her mother, a quiet and tender moment that set the tone for the day ahead.
A Heartfelt Ceremony in the Courtyard at Cannon Green
The ceremony took place in Cannon Green’s courtyard, a hidden garden oasis tucked right into Charleston’s bustling downtown. December brought a soft crispness to the air, and the courtyard glowed with understated elegance. A string duo played as guests were seated, their music weaving the perfect backdrop for Julia’s walk down the aisle.
As soon as Julia appeared, Christian’s eyes filled with tears. Their ceremony was not only beautiful but also deeply personal, as they incorporated their faith into their ceremony. Surrounded by family and friends, the couple shared promises rooted in love, devotion, and joy.

After the ceremony, we took advantage of Cannon Green’s stunning backdrops for portraits. The front of the venue, with its soft-toned walls and striking green doors, was the perfect setting to capture Julia and Christian together as newlyweds. Since their wedding followed just after Christmas, elegant wreaths with ribbon adorned the doors, adding a festive yet tasteful touch that blended seamlessly with the venue’s timeless design.
Inside, we captured a few portraits on the staircase, surrounded by flickering candlelight. The combination of the warm glow and the romantic architecture made for some of my favorite images of the day.
Cannon Green Wedding Reception
As the sun set, guests moved inside to the Trolley Room for an evening of celebration. Cannon Green’s Trolley Room is always a stunning space, and Julia and Christian’s reception design highlighted its natural beauty with simple yet elegant details. The tables featured a mix of lush white and green florals, with floating votives adding a warm, inviting glow.
The couple made their grand entrance as husband and wife and immediately shared their first dance. The joy on their faces, surrounded by applause and music, set the tone for the evening.
A lively band kept the dance floor packed all night long. The energy was infectious, with friends and family dancing and laughing together, creating a celebration that perfectly reflected Julia and Christian’s personalities.
Midway through the evening, Julia surprised everyone with a chic outfit change, an all-white ensemble featuring a sparkly top with feathered cuffs paired with sleek white pants. She looked incredible, and it added a fun, modern twist to the night.
A Glowing Celebration to End the Night
As the evening drew to a close, guests lined up outside of Cannon Green with foam glowsticks in hand, cheering as the newlyweds made their grand exit. As they made their way through the glowstick send-off, the joy on their faces said it all.
Waiting just outside was a vintage Rolls-Royce, the ultimate stylish getaway car. Hand in hand, Julia and Christian drove off into the Charleston night, the perfect ending to a Cannon Green Charleston wedding filled with unforgettable memories.
