It was a cold day, but the sun was shining, and the atmosphere of Suz and Molly’s wedding was so special. Agapae Oaks weddings are the absolute best, as you find more Lowcountry beauty on every corner you turn.
These two met while in a nurse residency program in Virginia. Molly was new to the area, and a mutual friend introduced them. They instantly bonded over traveling, a love of dogs, and trying the latest food and drink spots. Suz had thoughtfully planned the perfect proposal for Molly and completely surprised her! All Molly knew was to pack for cold weather. As they landed in Calgary, Alberta, the lodge they planned to stay in the first night had a power outage. They moved on to the second lodge to stay at, and the next morning while taking a walk around Emerald Lake, Suz popped the question. Molly then reciprocated the question, and their parents jumped out from the trees to surprise Molly.
A wedding at Agapae Oaks has many perks, including the ability to hold everything from the start to the end of the day. Suz and Molly were able to get ready in the main home, with one upstairs and the other downstairs. Once they were ready and in their gorgeous dresses, they wanted to share a first look with their side of the wedding party. The excitement that always comes from these photos is so fun!
Before the ceremony, they stood facing away from each other, and once they were ready, they turned around to see each other for the first time that day. Their reactions were so, so sweet. Afterward, we went inside the main home for them to exchange gifts.
Undoubtedly, the ceremony space at Agapae Oaks is one of the prettiest I’ve seen, with its incredible ancient live oak tree with Spanish Moss. Flowers were lining the aisle, and they were beautiful.
The wedding reception was one for the books because everyone had a blast celebrating the newlyweds! As the live band played, everyone enjoyed foam glow sticks and flower leis on the dance floor. Guests also enjoyed watching Art by Kelsey Rae finish the live wedding painting, with which she surprised Suz and Molly. Their families had hired Kelsey to surprise them, and they were stunned!
As a wedding photographer, it’s important to me to understand my couple’s needs. Sadly, Molly’s dad passed away a week before the wedding. Since I’ve lost both of my parents, I knew going into the day, there would be times when they may need a moment to collect themselves. Molly incorporated a few of her dad’s items in the details of the day, and they had a special moment of silence in remembrance of him.
To end the night, their guests created a tunnel of love with sparklers, and the girls exited to their getaway car. I’m so glad I could photograph Molly and Suz wedding day at Agapae Oaks! Enjoy scrolling through their love-filled day.
I photographed Christian and Austin’s wedding last year at Debordieu, and Christian’s mother kept saying, “Y’all means all.” I really resonated with the saying because each love story deserves to be photographed!
