Folly Beach Engagement Session | Ashley + Zach
There’s just something magical about a beach session, with the salty breeze, glowing light, and those relaxed, barefoot vibes you can’t recreate anywhere else. While I always adore photographing my couples in downtown Charleston, switching things up and heading to the coast keeps things feeling fresh and fun. Ashley and Zach’s Folly Beach engagement photos were the perfect mix of romance and playful, and I’m still swooning over every image!
We kicked things off in the soft sand dunes, where the sunlight gave us the dreamiest golden hour glow. Ashley and Zach immediately brought the energy, full of laughter, little moments of tenderness, and so much genuine joy. It’s such a gift when couples show up ready to be with each other, and these two made that part easy.
Ashley started the session in a white dress with the sweetest ruffle sleeves. It was the perfect choice for the romantic feel of a beach setting. Zach complemented her look in a light blue button-down and khaki pants, keeping it classic and coastal. Their style felt perfectly natural for the location, allowing their connection to shine through in every shot.
As we moved closer to the shoreline, the scenery continued to offer us more to explore. Some large rocks along the shoreline added beautiful texture and depth to the background, giving me a few creative posing options I don’t always get during beach sessions. I loved using them as a natural frame around Ashley and Zach’s laughter-filled embraces.
Ashley changed into a casual, strapless white dress just as the sun began to dip toward the horizon. The sky softened into pastel pinks and purples, wrapping them in the dreamiest light. From walking hand-in-hand along the shore to splashing each other in the waves, these two kept things lighthearted and so full of love.
One of my favorite aspects of Folly Beach engagement photos is how effortlessly they capture genuine, unfiltered emotion. Something about the sand between your toes and the breeze in your hair makes it easy to forget there’s even a camera around. And Ashley and Zach leaned into that carefree spirit perfectly.
These two are getting married next April at Charleston Harbor Resort and St. John’s Lutheran Church. After spending time with them, I know their wedding day is going to be a truly special celebration.
