I had the pleasure of photographing a heartwarming Charleston proposal on Kiawah Island for the sweetest couple, Arrington and Christian.
When Christian reached out to me to help plan the perfect proposal, he envisioned a dreamy beach setting. On the day we had planned, it was very windy, and the weather wasn’t cooperating as we had hoped. We quickly adapted and decided to stage this unforgettable moment on the grass, still having the picturesque ocean as a backdrop. The setting was equally magical as it would have been if we were on the beach.
There’s a little backstory that makes this proposal even more special. I first met Christian at one of my spring weddings earlier this year. He was a groomsman while I was photographing a wedding at Old Wide Awake. At this wedding, Arrington caught the bouquet! It’s like we’ve come full circle.
As part of the Charleston proposal package, I assisted in setting up the most romantic scene. We arranged candles in the shape of a heart, placed a cozy blanket in the center, and sprinkled delicate flower petals all around. Arrington was taken aback by the ambiance.
After the heartfelt “yes” and the joyous popping of champagne, it was time to capture the pure essence of their love with an impromptu engagement session. These photos are full of love, candid, and brimming with happiness. Arrington and Christian will always have these photos to look back on.
