Being a Charleston wedding photographer I have the opportunity to capture so many incredible couples and capturing Taylor and Eric’s wedding this fall at Alhambra Hall will go down as a forever favorite of mine!
Taylor and Eric first met each other through mutual friends, and at that time, it was not love at first sight. It was not until a few months later that their paths crossed again. This time, they hit it off instantly and became inseparable almost immediately, spending every day together for the first year and a half of their relationship.
For Taylor’s twenty-fourth birthday, they traveled to New Orleans to celebrate. Taylor being type A had planned out the entire trip, so when Eric was distracted on her birthday by being on the phone, she was irritated, but she did not realize what would soon happen. They went to Jackson Square, a spot in the middle of downtown, when Eric insisted on taking a photo in front of a statue. Taylor found it odd because Eric is not the type to willingly take pictures, and the statute had no particular meaning to them. Eric found a stranger to take their photo, and again Taylor found his behavior odd because he spoke to her for a few minutes. As Eric made his way back towards Taylor, she got in her standard pose when she heard people behind her gasp, so she turned around to find Eric was on one knee. She was totally caught off guard, but the surprises did not stop there. She had not even had time to comprehend what had just happened when she spotted her mom and their best friends running across the park. Eric had actually flown them down for the proposal to help them celebrate the massive moment in their life and the beginning of their forever together.
So the wedding planning began, where the two had decided to have a destination wedding in Charleston, South Carolina. Within minutes of the first time that I spoke with Taylor when she inquired with me, I knew that both Taylor and Eric would be such a fun couple to work with and people who I could see becoming friends with. Being a Charleston Wedding Photographer I am just one of many amazing photographers to choose from, so when Taylor asked me to capture their special day, I was completely over the moon to capture their June wedding at Alhambra Hall.
I was so excited for their wedding, and then COVID reaped havoc on all events nationwide, and sadly, Taylor and Eric had to make the difficult decision to postpone their wedding. My heart absolutely broke for the two, but they handled it so well, and we made the best of the situation. I actually got to spend the evening with them on their original wedding date, capturing their engagement photos. We had so much fun, and Taylor and I immediately bonded. I also found out that Eric and I share the same birthday, so of course, we bonded as well.
They postponed their wedding to November of 2020, and although it was not their summer wedding that they had been planning, I believe that it turned out better than ever. The weather was perfect, not too hot, not too cold, and so many of their friends and family were able to travel to celebrate their special day. When I first arrived at Alhambra Hall on the day of their wedding, I was absolutely blown away by how gorgeous Taylor looked, but also how happy both Taylor and Eric were to finally marry one another.
Taylor and Eric decided not to do the first look and did a first touch instead, but I even teared up seeing Eric’s reaction when Taylor made her way down the aisle escorted by her brother. The ceremony was so sweet, and the two could not stop looking at each other and had smiles from ear to ear. One of my favorite parts was after the ceremony when all their friends and family came up to congratulate them, and the amount of love and joy everyone had filled my heart. After the ceremony, we quickly did some family portraits before catching the last part of the sunset for some of the most dreamy husband and wife sunset portraits I have captured. We could not have asked for a better evening and weather for their images.
After we wrapped up their Portraits, they joined their guests at their reception, which did not disappoint. Everyone was on the dance floor and joined Taylor and Eric in celebrating their marriage. It was such a fun wedding and one that nobody wanted to end!
I am beyond blessed that Taylor and Eric trusted me to be their photographer to capture their special day, and I cannot wait to share with you all a few of my favorite images from their special day! Oh, and don’t forget to check out their wedding video we had the pleasure of capturing as well here!
