There’s something truly magical about a wedding at the Carriage House at Magnolia Plantation: the centuries-old oak trees draped in Spanish moss, the Ashley River flowing peacefully in the background, and the charm making it one of Charleston’s most breathtaking wedding venues. Taylor and Sam’s wedding day was nothing short of a dream, filled with genuine moments, elegant details, and much joy.
Taylor and Sam’s love story began in college at Orange Theory, and after their first date, the rest was history! Sam’s proposal was straight out of a movie where he surprised Taylor on the beach after dinner, with their closest family and friends appearing to celebrate with them. It was a meaningful moment, especially since many of their loved ones live far away.
The morning started with Taylor and her bridesmaids getting ready in the cutest matching linen sets, a fresh and stylish twist from the traditional matching pajama sets! Taylor popped open a beautifully hand-painted bottle of prosecco, filling the room with excitement and adding a fun, personal touch to the morning festivities. When the moment arrived for her to step into her wedding dress with the help of her mom, the anticipation built even more.
One of the sweetest moments of the morning was Taylor’s first look with her dad. As he turned around and caught sight of his daughter in her wedding gown, they shared a sincere moment. These father-daughter moments are always so special; this one was no exception.
Meanwhile, Sam and his groomsmen were getting ready at an Airbnb in Mount Pleasant, enjoying drinks and sharing laughs before heading to the Carriage House at Magnolia Plantation for the ceremony. The atmosphere was laid-back and full of excitement as they toasted to the day ahead.
Taylor and Sam chose to share a private first look before the ceremony, and we couldn’t have picked a better spot than Magnolia Plantation’s iconic bridge. This moment was breathtaking, with the Spanish moss swaying in the breeze, the pond reflecting the golden sunlight, and the bridge adding charm. They also exchanged private vows, creating an intimate and emotional moment for them before the festivities began.
After their first look, we took full advantage of the gorgeous grounds for their wedding portraits. Magnolia Plantation offers many beautiful backdrops, and every shot felt like a work of art. The wedding party joined in for photos next, and I was absolutely obsessed with Taylor’s bridesmaids’ dresses! They wore the prettiest pale yellow gowns in a matching style, which paired beautifully with the classic black suits worn by Sam and his groomsmen. Taylor and her bridesmaids carried bouquets of white roses and baby’s breath that were simple and elegant.
With the Ashley River as their backdrop, Sam and Taylor’s outdoor ceremony at the Carriage House at Magnolia Plantation was an absolute vision. A gorgeous grounded floral arch framed the altar, while baby’s breath arrangements tied to the aisle seats added a delicate, romantic touch.
One unique part of their ceremony was when the officiant invited guests to take out their phones for a quick moment to snap a photo of the couple. This was a thoughtful idea as it allowed guests to capture a memory while ensuring the rest of the ceremony remained unplugged and free from distractions.
After exchanging vows and sealing their love with a kiss, they made their way back down the aisle as their guests tossed flower petals, which was a fun and picture-perfect moment!
Just before sunset, I snuck Taylor and Sam away from the reception for a few golden hour portraits, and it was so worth it. The light during this time of day is pure magic, and the relaxed energy after the ceremony made for the most romantic and natural photos. These few quiet minutes alone are always special for couples, giving them a moment to soak everything in before ]returning to celebrate with their guests.
As the reception kicked off inside the Carriage House at Magnolia Plantation, Sam and Taylor made their grand entrance and went straight into their first dance. Their wedding party stood nearby, cheering them on as they danced. Instead of a DJ, they had a live band, which always brings incredible energy to a wedding reception!
One of my favorite details from their reception was Taylor’s outfit change. She switched into an adorable short dress perfect for dancing the night away. Another unique touch? A gelato cart! This was a fun and unexpected treat for their guests, and everyone absolutely loved it. I love it when couples add personal touches that reflect their personalities and make their day even more special.
The wedding colors, soft yellows, whites, and blacks, were woven beautifully throughout the reception decor. The entire space felt warm and inviting, and it was completely them.
Taylor and Sam’s wedding at the Carriage House at Magnolia Plantation was full of the most beautiful moments. It was an absolute honor to capture their special day, and I know their future will be just as incredible as the wedding day they so carefully planned.
