Agapae Oaks weddings are such a beautiful reflection of what so many couples love about getting married in the Lowcountry. From the ancient live oak trees lining the driveway to the peaceful ponds scattered throughout the property, and the stunning marshland views, this venue truly embraces everything that makes a Lowcountry wedding feel so special. If you’re dreaming of a wedding day surrounded by natural beauty, wide open spaces, and endless opportunities to customize your celebration, Agapae Oaks might be exactly what you’ve been searching for.
One of the things I love most about this venue is how much flexibility couples have when planning their wedding day. With 150 acres of property, nothing ever feels cramped or crowded. Instead, the entire venue feels peaceful, spacious, and incredibly intentional. No two weddings here are ever going to look exactly the same, and honestly, that’s part of what makes this venue so exciting. Couples can truly bring their own vision to life, whether that means creating an elegant tented reception, bringing in custom rentals, or designing a ceremony setup that feels uniquely personal to them.
Another thing that makes Agapae Oaks weddings stand out is the variety of ceremony backdrop options throughout the property. You can exchange vows overlooking the marshland, beneath the sprawling branches of a live oak tree, or beside one of the serene ponds on the property. Every option feels beautiful in its own way, and each one gives couples the chance to create a completely different atmosphere for their wedding day.

There’s something really special about a venue that allows couples to fully transform a space into their own vision, and that’s what makes Agapae Oaks weddings so memorable. Rather than feeling locked into a single setup or style, couples can create a wedding day that truly reflects their personalities and priorities.
Whether you’re envisioning a romantic tented reception beneath the stars, a timeless Lowcountry-inspired design, or a more modern celebration with customized rentals and details, this property gives you the freedom to make it happen. Between the marsh views, oak trees, ponds, and open land, every part of the venue feels naturally beautiful before you even add your own wedding design into the mix.
Agapae Oaks is located in St. Helena Island, South Carolina, tucked away in the beautiful Lowcountry just outside of Beaufort. One of the things I love about this area is how peaceful and quiet it feels compared to some of the busier wedding destinations throughout the South Carolina coast.
The venue is located about 2 hours from downtown Charleston and about 1.5 hours from downtown Savannah, making it a wonderful option for couples planning either a local or destination wedding. The drive itself is honestly part of the experience. Once you start making your way through the Lowcountry roads lined with marsh views, Spanish moss, and oak trees, everything immediately feels slower and more relaxed in the best possible way.
Because the venue sits on such a large property, you really get that secluded wedding day feel without sacrificing accessibility for your guests.
If you or your guests are flying in for your wedding weekend, the easiest airport option is usually Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. The drive from the airport to Agapae Oaks is about an hour, which is very manageable for guests traveling in.
Another option is Charleston International Airport. While the drive is longer, it can still be a great option if guests can find better flight availability or pricing.
For accommodations, most guests will likely stay in Beaufort, about a 20-minute drive from the venue. Some great options in the area include Beaufort Inn, Rhett House Inn, and Home2 Suites by Hilton Beaufort.
If guests are flying in, I would definitely recommend renting a car since transportation options are more limited in this area.
One really nice feature of the venue is that overnight accommodations are available directly on the property. The main house includes two upstairs bedrooms that couples can inquire about reserving for the night before or the night of their wedding. There are also two smaller houses on the property, and one can be reserved for overnight guests. Having the option to stay on-site can make your wedding weekend feel even more relaxed and intentional.

One of the best things about this venue is how versatile the property feels for different wedding sizes. If you’re planning a large celebration, Agapae Oaks can accommodate weddings with up to 300 guests. That’s a huge advantage for couples who want plenty of space for a larger guest count without everything feeling crowded.
At the same time, the property also works beautifully for more intimate weddings. Because there are so many different areas throughout the venue, couples can create a layout that feels cozy and intentional, no matter how many guests they’re inviting.

Yes, and honestly, the getting-ready spaces are such a huge bonus for Agapae Oaks weddings.
The main house offers spacious, beautifully decorated rooms where you and your wedding party can comfortably get ready throughout the morning. You’re not all squeezed into one tiny room trying to navigate hair, makeup, dresses, and details at the same time.
One of the biggest advantages of getting ready on-site is how much smoother the entire day feels. You can wake up at the venue, spend the morning with your favorite people, get ready there, have your ceremony, and move straight into cocktail hour and the reception without coordinating transportation between multiple locations. It creates such a relaxed flow for the entire wedding day.
Yes! Couples will bring in their own catering and bartending teams for their wedding day. The venue does provide recommendations if you need help finding vendors, which can be incredibly helpful during the planning process.
You’ll definitely want to confirm directly with the venue whether you’re required to choose vendors from their preferred list or if outside vendors are allowed.
If you’re interested in touring the venue, you can fill out the contact form directly through their website with information about your wedding day, and their team will get back with you to coordinate a tour. You can also call them directly at 410-967-6471 to schedule a time to visit the property.
If you’re planning a destination wedding and can’t easily travel to South Carolina beforehand, they also offer a really helpful virtual tour online. One of the things I appreciate about their virtual tour is how thorough it is. They showcase everything from the inside of the house to the ceremony locations and reception spaces, giving couples a much better understanding of how the property flows before ever setting foot on the property in person.
I believe parts of the venue are accessible, but there are stairs leading into the main house. Because accessibility needs can vary greatly from guest to guest, I would definitely recommend reaching out directly to the venue team to discuss specific accommodations and confirm which options are available.

While the venue doesn’t require couples to hire a wedding planner, I truly think having one would make a significant difference in your overall experience.
Because Agapae Oaks weddings are often highly customized, with tents, rentals, catering teams, bars, tables, chairs, lighting, and multiple vendors involved, there are many moving pieces behind the scenes. A planner helps bring all of those details together and ensures everything runs smoothly throughout the day.
More importantly, hiring a planner lets you and your family enjoy the wedding weekend rather than worry about setup, logistics, timelines, and vendor coordination. Especially at a venue like this, where couples have so much creative freedom, having someone there to execute your vision is incredibly valuable.
One of my favorite things about photographing weddings at Agapae Oaks is the variety throughout the property. There are endless opportunities for portraits that feel timeless and unique to each couple.
The ceremony spaces alone create completely different visual experiences depending on where couples decide to exchange vows. A marsh backdrop creates a softer, coastal feel, while the live oak trees bring in that classic Southern atmosphere that so many couples love about Lowcountry weddings.
And because the property is so expansive, wedding days never feel rushed or overcrowded. There’s room to slow down, explore different portrait locations, and create images that feel relaxed and intentional throughout the entire day.

At this time, Agapae Oaks does not list full pricing directly on its website. However, on sites like The Knot and WeddingWire, couples commonly report spending around $8,000 as a starting point.
Of course, pricing can always change depending on the season, day of the week, guest count, rentals, and overall wedding vision. Because of that, I always recommend reaching out directly to the venue for the most accurate, up-to-date pricing information for your specific wedding date.

I’ve had the opportunity to photograph a wedding at Agapae Oaks, and I would absolutely love to document more weddings here in the future. There’s just something about this venue that photographs beautifully from every angle. Between the natural landscapes, the peaceful atmosphere, and the endless customization opportunities, every wedding day here feels incredibly unique.
If you’re planning an Agapae Oaks wedding and are looking for a photographer who values genuine moments, natural emotion, and timeless imagery, I would love to connect with you. Whether you’re envisioning an intimate celebration beneath the oak trees or a large tented reception overlooking the marshland, this venue creates such an unforgettable backdrop for your wedding day.
You can reach out through my contact form, and I’ll be in touch with more information. I truly can’t wait to hear what you’re planning for your wedding at Agapae Oaks.
