A gorgeous summer day gathered us for Nikki and Nolan’s garden-inspired wedding at The Gadsden House!
These two cuties went to the University of Kentucky but never spent time together until they were in grad and law school. After their first date, which happened to be at a wedding, they were inseparable. They were taking a weekend trip to 30A, and Nikki suspected Nolan would propose. They were exploring the area while on a bike ride and found a pretty spot with a pond. At this same spot the next night, he popped the question!
Once Nikki was in her wedding dress, she gave her mother a beautiful bracelet. Nikki’s wedding band was her great-grandmother’s ring, and Nolan was given his grandfather’s watch to wear. As a photographer, I love shooting sentimental items such as these because I know how much they mean to the family.
Nikki’s bridesmaids wore the prettiest floral dresses! To ensure that all dresses were complementary, she took her time selecting them. She did a fantastic job, and they all matched perfectly for her romantic garden-themed wedding!
Throughout their wedding day, we moved efficiently through their wedding day timeline. It’s important to me that my couples, the wedding party, and families get to enjoy themselves and aren’t busy taking photos all day. One compliment that I received was how timely I was with the pictures. Everyone was so grateful for how quickly I went through everything!
There are so many fantastic photo opportunities all around Gadsden House! Even though I photograph all around Charleston, I love the city even more at each wedding and session. The historic-looking homes and just overall architecture make for lovely photos! Nolan and Nikki looked so sophisticated together. Before the reception, Nolan changed into a tan suit to be ready to party!
When it came time for the reception, I could tell it was going to be a fun party celebrating the newly married couple! At one point in the evening, Nolan got up with the band and joined them in singing a song. It was an incredible moment and is definitely up there as one of my favorite things my grooms have done! Behind the band was a neon sign hanging with some lyrics to their first dance song. I loved this idea!
Congratulations, Nolan and Nikki! I am so glad I could photograph your big day!
