If you’re dreaming of engagement photos that feel relaxed, romantic, and full of coastal charm, Old Village Mount Pleasant is such a beautiful place to make that happen! Between the peaceful marsh views, charming streets, and gorgeous evening light, there are so many opportunities to create something special. Olivia and Garrett’s session was the sweetest example of how a few personal touches can make your photos feel even more meaningful. From including their adorable pup to ending the evening with a champagne picnic, their session was filled with coastal engagement photo inspiration!

We started Olivia and Garrett’s engagement session with a very special guest, their sweet pup! I always love when couples include their dogs in their photos, especially when they’re such a big part of their everyday lives. Engagement sessions are also a wonderful opportunity to include your furry friend if they won’t be joining you on your wedding day. It was such a fun way to begin our evening together!

Our first location gave us the prettiest coastal scenery, with tall marsh grasses, waterfront docks, and beautiful sunlight filtering through the background. I loved how the natural surroundings created such a peaceful atmosphere for their photos.

From there, we stopped at one of my favorite little spots in Mount Pleasant, a charming gate surrounded by lush green ivy. It’s one of those tucked-away places that’s easy to overlook, but it makes such a lovely backdrop for portraits. I love incorporating little corners like this into engagement sessions because they add variety while still keeping everything feeling cohesive.

One of the things I love most about this area is how much variety you can find without traveling between several locations. We captured photos with the tall grasses and open green spaces before making our way closer to the marsh. The waterfront views gave Olivia and Garrett’s photos a completely different feel, and even as the sunlight softened behind the clouds, we still had beautiful natural light to work with. It’s one reason I love recommending Old Village Mount Pleasant to couples who want that classic coastal look without spending their entire session moving from place to place.

One of my favorite parts of Olivia and Garrett’s session came toward the very end. Olivia added an adorable sun hat to her look, and the two spread out a blue-and-white floral blanket overlooking the marsh. They brought along a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne, popped it open, and poured themselves a glass before settling onto the blanket together.

I absolutely loved this idea! It felt less like a planned photoshoot and more like a little date night they might enjoy on a Sunday evening. Just the two of them, a cozy spot overlooking the marsh, and a chance to slow down and enjoy being together.
That is exactly why I encourage couples to incorporate meaningful accessories or activities into their engagement sessions. It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate. A favorite drink, a picnic blanket, or even a simple accessory can bring a little more personality to your photos. The best details are the ones that feel natural to you as a couple.

Olivia and Garrett’s session was such a beautiful reminder that engagement photos can be both timeless and personal. If you’re looking for coastal engagement photo inspiration and love the idea of creating an experience that feels like you, I’d love to help bring your vision to life!
